Hawkley Community Information: Parish Council Meetings

The when & where for Parish council Meetings?

Parish Council Meetings

The Parish Council has 8 members and is elected every four years. The next election will be in 2007. Those interested in serving on the Parish Council are particularly welcome to attend meetings, and should ask the Clerk for advice on election procedures.

The Council normally meets in Hawkley Village Hall or Empshott PCC Hut at 7.30pm on a Thursday in January, in April (this meeting includes the annual Parish Meeting when the Council reports back on the activities for the previous year), in May, when officers and committees are elected for the following year, in August and October.

The times and the agenda of each meeting are posted on the notice boards at Upper and Lower Green Hawkley and by the old Post Office in Empshott and at Grange Farm Empshott about a week before the meeting.

Parishioners are welcome to attend any meeting, and councillors welcome any comments or concerns to be raised before the meeting in time to put on the agenda or after the meeting.

The District and County Councillors try to attend Council Meetings.

The Council employs a part-time Clerk to deal with all correspondence, take minutes, and execute Council decisions; the clerk is also the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO).
