KNEELERS FOR EMPSHOTT CHURCH
EMPSHOTT CHURCH KNEELERS - UPDATE
It is now three years since this project began and progress has been remarkable.
Our team of local volunteer stitchers have completed 23 kneelers and a further 20 were stitched by prisoners working with the charity Fine Cell Work.
Fine Cell Work is a social enterprise that trains prisoners in paid, skilled, creative needlework undertaken in the long hours spent in their cells to foster hope, discipline and self-esteem.
For more information about this excellent charity have a look at their website: www.finecellwork.co.uk
The photograph below shows how impressive the new kneelers look.
The church is always open so do come and see them for yourself.

Empshott Flower Festival - 26th and 27th June 2010
On the hottest weekend of the year so far, almost 300 people were happy to step into the cool of Holy Rood Church in Empshott to see a magnificent display of flowers.
The flower festival, "A Tapestry of Flowers", was staged to raise funds for a project to replace old, worn-out kneelers with new tapestry ones, using unique designs based on floor tiles, woodwork and stained glass windows in the church. Visitors were enchanted by the sight and scents of thirty beautiful arrangements based on a tapestry theme, including a display of kneelers crafted from foliage. Three new tapestry kneelers were also on show.

We raised £1500 over the weekend. Thanks to the generosity of the visitors, who also enjoyed tea, home-made cakes and a barbeque, the project now has enough funds to continue.
